Veterinarian

Dr. Amy James, D.V.M., joined Animal Clinic of Woodruff in May 2025. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Amy recently moved to the Upstate, which she now calls home.

After graduating from Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, she has been practicing her skills in the field. She likes challenges and especially enjoys working with medicine cases, dermatology, and performing soft tissue surgery.

In her free time, Amy enjoys reading, antiquing, and gardening. You can find her out and about with her friends, family, and dogs. Her two hounds Flidais (Irish Wolfhound) and Huginn (Norwegian Elkhound), love playing with her and going on long walks before coming back home to their two cats: Snuggle Pumpkin (Ginger Tabby) and Musette (Siamese Mix).

Our office dog Cash had eye surgery last week, and Duckie was there for support! They both did great! Get well soon, sweet Cash.

Dr. Merri, Chris, and Finn participated in Splash Away the Trash on Lake Hartwell this past weekend. They removed a significant amount of trash from the lake to be processed.

Thanks to the Lake Hartwell Association for organizing this important event, to the Army Corps of Engineers for supporting the efforts, and to the many other volunteers who helped clean up our local lakes!

Fall has officially arrived! And for us, that means more outdoor activities with our trusty pets. Swimming, hiking, kayaking…our pups are up for anything!

After a quick examination from Dr. Merri, we learned that Sturgill has an ear infection. Our poor office pup is being treated with medicine and cuddles and is expected to make a quick recovery.

Did you know Animal Clinic of Woodruff has an in-house laboratory? Pictured here is Vet Tech Skylar running bloodwork for one of our patients. Handling labs in-house saves time and reduces the margin for error.

Duckie has only been with us for a few weeks, but he’s already learning the ropes from his older siblings, Cash and Sturgill.

After bringing Duckie home, our next stop was the clinic to meet the rest of the ACOW family. Everybody loved him, and he didn’t seem to mind the attention either!

Meet Duckie! This sweet Austrian Shepherd is the newest member of the Animal Clinic of Woodruff team, pictured here at 8 weeks old on his way home with Finn. Welcome to the family, Duckie!
